LanguageThis week we have been focussing on letter formation. Accomplishing the correct letter formation is important to time management throughout their school career. They continue with guided reading in English individually. When writing the students are beginning to remember that a sentence begins with a capital letter and ends with a full stop. During shared writing the students are participating by either telling the teacher how to sound out the word or by writing it. To add to their vocabulary the teachers have implemented word puzzles where the students are matching words to the pictures. They have also been creative in attempting to make an acrostic poem using the word 'IMAGINE'. 这一周我们主要的注意力放在了字母书写上,正确地书写字母对孩子们整个学生生涯来说都非常重要。本周我们继续做了英语的个人指导阅读。在写作时,孩子们开始记住英语句子总是以大写字母开头和以句点结尾。他们通过独立拼写或者由老师帮助拼写共同完成“分享写作”的任务。此外,老师还给大家提供了单词拼图游戏,让孩子们通过找到单词对应的图片来增加词汇量。 我们还开始用单词IMAGINE来创作藏头诗。 Phonics: Everyday the students recall sounds of the letters as they sign in by filling in the missing letter in a word. They have experiences in oral blending and segmenting when we approach Shared Reading via the morning message and when they are participating in Guided Reading. This week the students are now adding to that and becoming risk takers by practising blending for reading and segmenting when writing as they try to do so independently. 英语语音:每天早上我们用填充单词签到的方式来帮助孩子们复习英语语音知识,一起阅读早间信息以及个人的指导阅读也提供了大量的口语拼读的练习机会。在一系列阅读和书写活动中,拼读和分解技能得到了增强。尤其在进行独立书写的时候,他们充分地发挥了敢于尝试的冒险精神。 In Chinese we spent one week reviewing and assessing what we learnt in Pinyin so far. Through playing different group games, we are trying to make Pinyin learning more interesting and engaging. Chinese guided reading resumed this week. As the same as last term, we will be sending home a Chinese picture book with pinyin once a week. There will be an owl reading record book for every student. Parents may leave any comments and feedback about Chinese reading and learning at home. 在中文方面,我们这周主要用于复习和测评已学过的拼音知识,并尝试通过玩游戏的方式来让拼音学习变得更加有趣。同时,这周我们也恢复了中文的小组指导阅读,每周将会有一本中文的注音绘本和猫头鹰记录本发给孩子们。家长可在记录本上留下任何跟家庭阅读或者中文学习相关的反馈。 Mathematics In Math we continued to build on the students' prior conceptual understandings of numbers. These number focuses were broken into number facts, where student explored how many ways they can make numbers up to 10. An example is, how many ways can we make 8? 4+4, 5+3, 6+2 and so on…, mental maths, skip counting in 2s and the place value of tens and ones. 在数学方面,我们继续帮助孩子们巩固已有的数字技能。这些技能包括10以下的数字分解,要求他们用尽可能多的方法分解某个数字。比如数字8有多少种分解方式?可以4+4,5+3,6+2等等;还包括心算,每2个数字跳数,和两位数的位值。 Our Inquiry Unit ‘Imagination’ has recently been based around the book “嫦娥奔月”. Students imagined what they would like on their moon and discussed it with the class. As you can see from the photos, they were very imaginative. We have also connected the Line of Inquiry led by the students earlier connection to the unit. We presented them with the question “Imagination, what does it mean?” One of the answers were “Imagination is letting your brain play.” We have been using this statement to inspire our thinking. 探究单元“想象”继续围绕着上周的主题故事《嫦娥奔月》展开。孩子们自由发挥想象,设想自己月亮上的情景并进行分享和绘画。从照片中可以看出他们的无限创意。在本单元早期,我们给孩子们提出了一个问题:你们觉得想象是什么?其中一个答案是“我觉得想象就好像是让大脑在玩”,我们一直在用这句话来启发我们的思维。 How you can help at home.

At home you can play games with your child to make pinyin reviewing more interesting. For example, place all the flashcards on a table and have a competition to see who can make the most syllables. You can write the names of your family members in pinyin and ask your child to sound out and recognise the tones. In the meantime, within a week, please spend certain time reading with your child. You don’t need to stick to any reading forms or materials. It can be bedtime reading, independent reading, or shared reading. It can be about chapter books, picture books, or poetry.
